Turn a big goal into a monthly plan
Big savings targets feel vague until you break them into a timeline. This tool works backwards: it takes your target, your current balance, and what you can save each month, then tells you the month you'll arrive.
How the calculation works
Each month your balance earns interest and your contribution is added. The tool steps forward month by month until the balance reaches your goal, then reports the number of months — and a projected date based on today.
Levers you control
- Monthly contribution — the biggest lever; a small increase shaves months.
- Interest rate — higher yield (e.g., a high-yield savings account vs. a checking account) shortens the timeline.
- Goal size — be realistic; set milestone goals you can actually hit.
